Metal Guitar Jam Track #2

I am really digging Wordpress. It is the ‘blogging’ software that I switched to a couple of months ago to run this website but, really, it does so much more. It is an excellent content management system, it has a built in comment function and it tracks popular posts and pages. And the price is right: FREE!

Anyway, I have consistently found my Metal Guitar Jam Track near the top of my most popular pages. Being as this site is for you, today I give you another metal jam track! Again in the key of A minor.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

The following scales all work well:

The Phrygian mode adds an exotic character that is cool though it includes a B-flat note that is kind of a clunker against the F chord in the progression.

Any other jam track styles you want to hear more of? Maybe I am missing out on a new popular style? Polka/Reggae/Speed Metal hybrids? Let me know by commenting!

Um, a thrash metal one please? I can’t find anything on the web that has a jam track for thrash metal. :)

Hey, do I have permission to use this for a guitar jam that I want to record for YouTube?

@Charles: Sure thing. I appreciate you asking! That track is from a guitar school I worked with previously that is no longer operating so it is free for use, IMHO. If you need source files just write back and I will help you out. I would like to hear the results!

@Chuck – thats cause nobody should listen to “thrash”

@gerry douglas – You’d be surprised, also, by the way you typed that to me, it didn’t sound like you had an open mind.

I never met a thrash metal guitar player who really played guitar.Just my opinion , no hard feelings.

@gerry douglas – Oh…. Well, they are the posers who like to listen to other stuff. Many good guitar influence came from GOOD thrash metal bands. Megadeth is notorious for very complex guitar riffs/solos and Toxik has a habit of sweep picking. Annihilator is probably one of the most progressive/technical thrash metal band out there, using a lot of harmonic minors and diminished sliding into minors. There is plenty of good thrash metal bands that give influence to today’s shredding. But those who don’t take that for granted are posers.

@Charles – I knew a guy who had a thrash metal band and thought he was a great guitar player but to me it seemed to be an excuse to not learning the instrument by saying he didnt play other peoples music he wrote his own music problem was it wasnt music so my experience with this guy and others put a bad taste in my mouth for thrash metal guitarist.Remember, this is just my opinion from my experiences.Rock on with these cool jam tracks!!
