Consistent Guitar Practicing

Practicing is key to becoming a better guitarist, obviously. But all practice time is not equal.

In my experience, practicing consistently 15-20 minutes a day makes for quicker progress than practicing for 90-120 minutes one day and not touching the guitar the rest of the week. Practicing consistently 90-120 minutes (or more) a day? Even better. ;)

I put in as much practice as time will allow but the thing that interests me most nowadays is dislodging old habits. There’s always something you can do to freshen up practice time, like slowing down a song you know really well. See what a fresh look at something familiar can do!

I think if you can take a song and put it to a metronome you’ll be ahead of most of the artists that come in to record here. I spent 3 hours with a girl last week trying to get a guitar part in time.
