Tip Of The Day - Your Musical Diet
You’ve heard the old saying “you are what you eat”. Translate that to music and its “you are what you listen to”!
As a guitarist, you should be listening to music each day. This is how you learn the musical language, consciously and subconsciously. Don’t just passively take in music. Actively seek out great music. Learn who your guitar hero’s heroes are and listen to them. Want to play jazz? You must listen to jazz music. Want to write songs? Listen to great songwriters.
One of my instructors, Joe Diorio, said musicians should listen to four hours of music a day. I would say, at least, two hours.
