I know it seems obvious but taking care of ones gear and seeing that it's properly stored, etc keeps inspiration and leads to more playing! Buying a new piece of gear can open up a new unanticipated direction...and like gWallet says above, guitars aren't all the hard on the eyes!

I've actually mounted hangers on the wall in both my studio and workroom, and you're spot on...having them out in the open often leads to a moment of...hmmm...what would this sound like on acoustic, or the occasional, cool melody, lemme see what root chord tones on bass might sound like. Besides the additional creativity, some of these instruments are just too darn pretty to lock away. :)

I just got a stand today and boy, do I really see the difference. I used to keep it on my bed when I wasn't using it, but now that I just have to set it down, the convenience is just great. Now I don't have to worry about it detuning or worry about it falling off the bed.

I have 2 stands in the basement and I still leave guitar leaning against the couch many times. It drives the wife crazy but I like to have them handy when inspiration kicks in!
